Writing has been a shameless passion of mine since as early as I can remember. My first half-baked novel idea was a Final Fantasy VII knock-off that over a decade later is still very, very painful to read. I stumbled upon forum play-by-post roleplay shortly thereafter when a friend introduced me to a Harry Potter Fanverse Roleplay site. Full-disclaimer: I've never read a Harry Potter book. Not surprising, my tenure didn't last long there, but it fostered something untameable. I moved on to another general roleplay forum and became a resident there for over a decade. Met some amazing people, fantastic writers, and some lifelong friends. When the site moved servers, however, I found myself a vagabond, moving from site to site until non-sensical ramblings between friends and Arkadia's co-creators became a tangible idea and Arkadia launched in October 2019.
Collaborating with other writers and Franksteining ideas across genres is sort of addictive as the unimaginable suddenly takes shape, and finding a community of people who are just as passionate and encouraging about writing as you are is a needle in the haystack. But that is what we strive to foster here at Arkadia. And I hope you find a place here with us!

Man, I’ve been writing since I could get on the internet. I loved lord of the rings and the MMO world of Warcraft, they inspired my young imagination. Wanting to explore these worlds beyond what their gameplay had to offer, I found communities online that wrote collaboratively together. I was so excited at this new form of interaction among creative people it took me completely by storm. I haven’t looked back since and still go after that high of collaboration. Now though I do a little more than one sentence replies.
I love collaboration, I love talking ideas and themes and scenarios with other’s that spark new ideas we wouldn’t have stumbled on our own. Hopefully I can help other’s find that magic here in Arkadia, that pure joy of discovering a new idea and developing it with others until something wondrous is created.

I’ve joined a million writing communities over the many years I’ve been writing, moderated a few of them, and I still never know what to say in these things. So I guess I’ll keep this short and sweet: As I mentioned I’ve been writing since I was a wee lass (literally, my class got our story projects “published” as a book when I was in the first grade. It’s great, you should read it sometime), started RPing in AOL chat rooms when I was eleven and evolved into a collaborative writer of short stories a few short years after that and never looked back. Outside of that, I’m an academic (which basically means I went to school for too long and can’t actually do much of anything except get drunk and tell you how your high school history teacher was actually wrong about everything.) I also sing (but don’t write my own music), Play the sims, fail at Mass Effect et. al., and Destiny2 (#ARIZONAGANGCLAN), bartend and manage retail/clothing stores as my day job(s).
While I am an Administrator, my main (read:passion project) role here as The Curator is to mod the Literature section and run the Book Club, The Prefect of Arkadia University and Head Writing Mentor here to be a helping hand. If you need anything as far as a soundboard for story ideas, a copy editor, or have any questions you don’t want to bug the big guys and gals admins and moderators about, feel free to message me on here or through discord!
FAVOURITE GENRE: historical fantasy / modern fantasy / sci fi
FAVOURITE BOOK: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-glass by Lewis Carroll
FAVOURITE WRITER: Haruki Murakami

I first stumbled across a writing community entirely by accident and my geeky little heart was very quickly inducted. Thus began the slow, steady descent into chaos — and I haven't looked back since. My initial projects were simple: I liked dragons, so there was a lot of that. Dragon riders, quests, high fantasy. I dabbled in science fiction and in clans and guilds, freestyle and structured, in poetry and prose. I've been lucky enough to make some lifetime friends from that first community, many of whom have now moved on here!
On Arkadia you can find me brewing up new plots and projects, hanging out in the community lounge, or trying to collect all the stickers.
I'm also often on Discord stirring up debates about sandwiches.
FAVOURITE BOOK: The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King
FAVOURITE WRITER: China Mieville
YEARS EXPERIENCE: 18 for the internet aspect.
I've always loved storytelling. Whether reading it, writing it, or just telling a story around a campfire. It's always been something I've had an absolute passion for... That and alcohol. With writer's they say those things go hand in hand though. So my career choice wasn't to far off the beaten path by that estimation.
I'm hoping everyone here enjoys their time, and we may even tell some stories together sometime. At the end of the day though I just hope that everyone who comes here finds what they're looking for.
