That's right, ladies and mutants, the beta for the IC world is officially live! Do you know what that means? No? Well, let me explain!
Here are at Arkadia we are very interested in collaboratively creating a constantly changing story on a massive scale, a world where characters and factions interact with and change one another. Whether in a friendly, or not so friendly way.
What do we need from you?
Well, at first we wanted to create this large world with locations and characters and this and that, but we decided that maybe we should let our members create the world they want to write in instead of making something prefabricated that they might not be interested in.
Faction Leaders - WANTED:
So, as a base, we have three factions and a city. You can find info on them down below. We want three brave souls to take the mantle of faction leaders for each one. What will be required of you?
A collaborative spirit: We want you and the other faction leaders to work with staff to create story-lines for the IC world while also encouraging participation in the IC world.
Offering a helping hand: You can have officers below you to help out with this, but a faction leader should also want to help out new members in their faction, from helping them set foot into the world to pointing them in the right direction when they might have questions.
And that's kinda it for now, this role should not be a job and staff understands our members have real lives outside of this forum, so we don't need you to be available at all times, just truly interested in participating in the development and growth of this project.
If you have story ideas, thoughts on what you would like to see, maybe you can help out with artwork, design, or even an original music piece, let us know down below!
Create a character, pick a faction, and join the discussion!
Any member that participates in the IC world beta will receive a limited edition IC World Beta sticker!
The Carmesi Cartel
- The Blood of the Citadel -
A loose group of merchants and mercenaries uniting under one organization to push their interests in the Citadel, they have a council of the biggest bankers, mercenary clans, and underworld bosses. Considered the people’s faction, though their true interest tends to lie in protecting their inner council as well as the last city.
If you work in the Last City, then you either worked for or have worked with a member of the Carmesi Cartel. A virus, or salvation, depending on who you talk to, that has spread its influence throughout the last city, the Cartel first sprung up just after the founding of the Citadel. No one really knows how it first got started, just that it has always been there.
- We are the daughters of the witches they couldn't burn -
The Weeping Sisters are a matriarchal cult dedicated to reclaiming Old World artefacts.
They are an ancient, neutral society who were founded by the Mother. Before the world broke, she was a young woman with a vision that drove her to cross oceans.
She heads the Sisters, having taught the first generation in the ways of Old World witchcraft, shamanism, and druidic practices, regularly communing with nature and aligning themselves to the cycles of the moon.
Though they are known to services in exchange for favours, there are rumours the Sisters dabble in darker magicks: blood magic, human sacrifice, and necromancy.
- The mind is a dangerous tool in the right hands -
The academy is an organization of scholars, philosophers, adventurers, and academics all pushing the boundaries of human knowledge. Interested in both science and that which lies just outside of science, they spend their time searching and studying anomalies, relics, and those gifted with unusual abilities. To enter the Academy is to be invited by one who is already a member, but even then one must face a series of secretive tests to become a full-fledged member that would be allowed to know its most wondrous secrets.
Built upon the hollowed out shell of what was once Denver, the Citadel stands. Many cities fell to war, to time, or to the depravity of people. Some cities in the heart of America have survived to an extent though. Being too far inland to effectively attack when the world decided to throw down the gloves these cities were able to avoid the worst of what Earth had to offer. The Citadel stands as one of these endangered marvels. While the city of Denver has fallen its pieces have been repurposed for The Citadel’s many needs. Former banks turned into guarded markets, Sub basements turned into housing, and even Empower Field has been turned into an open air gambling house, and Arena for those wishing to gamble through trade, or through brawn.
Technology is limited, and not well received by many within the city. Those who do choose to use it typically do so far away from the eyes of some of the Ruling Factions. The only area where it is typically used without recourse is within The Arena itself. For anyone choosing to walk out upon the field is allowed use of any item they may bring with them. Outside of that the use of golden age tech is a frowned upon, and shunned idea to many.
All of this lies within the walls of The Citadel. Walls erected to keep the world at bay, and to protect this monolithic society from the world at large. Many find the wall a comfort. It standing means they are safe. Others find it a stain upon the society. Offering a false protection when many dangers lie within it already. Some are even said to live outside the wall. Outliers to the societal norm of this rusted futurescape.
