Good morning, evening, afternoon, and everything in between!
My (online) name is Riswynn, and I've decided to return to online role playing after a five year hiatus. Prior to that, I participated in 1x1 RPs daily for about ten years, give or take. I figure if I'm stuck inside during this whole social distancing thing, I might as well immerse myself in a far more interesting world while I wait. I may be rusty, but I hope I can make a lot of new friends here and create a ton of awesome characters and stories!
My usual hobbies are reading and crochet (currently making a blanket for my newest cousin). As far as role play, my favorite genres were always something involving a fantasy element. I love, love, love magic, mythology, and mythological creatures. I also really enjoyed having an element of romance in my RPs, though it usually wasn't immediate. For example, one of my old standby plots when nobody had any ideas but wanted to put something together was simply: Two warring kingdoms in a medieval fantasy setting (one side usually human, the other something non-human) finally end their generations-long war and agree to sign a treaty, in addition to marrying off the prince and princess from either side. Cultural differences, personality clashes, political intrigue, and slowly growing feelings would usually ensue in different ways depending on who I was working with. (I actually wouldn't mind playing a variant of this again sometime.)
Anyway, it's been a long time for me and although I am honestly nervous to get back in the game, I'm happy to be here and hope I can have a lot of fun with ya'll!
Welcome to Arkadia, Ris! Perfect time to join with the whole world on lockdown I suppose, haha. What got you into mythology? The Greek stories? Personally they were the first that got me interested in myths. I would read books on the stuff voraciously as a kid.
Hi Rick! Greek mythology probably was my first love, considering I must've been introduced to it through Disney's Hercules, haha. As I got older, I started reading the real stories in elementary school and really got hooked. From there, pretty much all myths and legends interested me. I especially love dragons and the different ways they appear in myths all over the world.
