A vital plantation on the southernmost border of a young, but ambitious kingdom goes silent. There is no trade along the road, and those sent south to investigate never return. Envoys, tax collectors, hunters and scouts have all vanished into the mists beneath the pines.
Suspecting foul play from a long standing southern rival, the King consults his advisors. They elect an aspiring captain among the officers in the King's army, give him command over a unit of light cavalry, skirmishers, and a newly recruited militia, and send them south to investigate. The captain is also given an allotment to hire experienced sellswords to bolster their numbers. Three hundred and eighty fighting men and women, their animals, and a small supply train, all march down into the barrens of the south. Into the mists.
All gone down into the mists…
King Priam of Lacorum has marshaled a small force to travel south to the city of Chalcis. Chalcis is the agricultural center for the country, and host to Lacorum’s largest vineyards, which fuel trade between Lacorum and the countries of Goshen and Karak. The city has been silent for months now. No communication has been made, no tax collected, and no caravan’s found along the road. Chalcis sits close to the border of Lycinea, a rival southern nation that has been threatening an invasion for years.
Drawn by the promise of steady work and good pay, you are a mercenary who has signed on to accompany Lacorum’s exploration force and investigate the cause of the city’s sudden silence. Individuals have arrived from all walks of life from across the Known World. The one thing they have in common, they have no idea what is waiting for them.

This is a high fantasy RP which takes place on a single continental landmass divided between several independent kingdoms and empires. For Act I, all characters will begin as mercenary recruits in the country of Lacorum. Posts have no maximum word requirement, but must be no less than two paragraphs of at least five sentences each. Decent vocabulary, spelling, and grammatical skills are preferred. Anyone who might be interested should show it here. Once I have at least a couple of participants, I'll post world information and open up a thread for characters.
Remember to be respectful of your fellow players, and that all forum rules are in effect.
Ok! World Info and OOC are live. You guys can go start posting characters when ready.
bleu, I made some mention of magic in the Info thread, specifically who can use it and how those people are treated in the overall world, but I haven't posted details on how it works yet. If you want to message me directly though, I'll be happy to give you a rough rundown. That goes for anyone with questions. Otherwise, I should have something up that everyone can read in another day or two.
