This thread was made to provide those writing in the world of factions with a clearer picture of what day to day living in Citadel city is like.
The Walls of Citadel City:
Citadel City has three walls surrounding it, giant structures build during the Golden Age of mankind. Why a city would need walls during a time of peace and prosperity is unknown. Perhaps it wasn't trying to keep anything out, perhaps it was trying to keep something in.
The North, East, and South walls all have guard houses, Multiple entry points through guarded gates, and the western side of the city is protected by rolling hills that eventually become the rocky mountains.
The Cartel maintains the mint of the city with the help of The Academy. Currency in Citadel City are rectangular coins, of three different sizes. A jade, a pearl, and an obsidian.
100 jades is one pearl, and 100 pearls is one obsidian. The mint, the factory where the coins are minted, is run by Academy mages and scholars along with Cartel engineers and laborers.
Thanks to the secretive arts of The Academy, they give special properties to the metals used to make the coins. The jade coins look like the green stone but have the strength of steel as well as a magical shimmer. A pearl coin looks as if it was made from the finest pearl, but is actually specially treated metal. The obsidian coin as well, the dark smoky glass looking coin is alchemically changed steel by the Academy scholars.
Showers and Bathrooms:
The Citadel has bathrooms and showers in the houses of its more prominent members of society, but almost everyone else either uses the rivers that run through the city or go to the public bath houses that were built by the Cartel. Bathrooms are either out houses, leftover golden age facilities, or public bathrooms made by the cartel for the general populace.
There are two water filtering & treatment facilities ran by the Cartel and the Academy, ensuring everyone has access to clean water.
Law and Order:
The cartel, having their hands in every pie, pays for the force that protects the city. Most are paid thugs, but they tend to keep the peace.
Some of the richer districts of the city employ their own personal guards, and the Carmesi city guard tends to stay away from those areas.
There are plenty of small clinics and single medical practitioner offices throughout Citadel City, some run by the Cartel as a charity to help out the poor, some run by The Academy scholars, some by less than reputable members of society.
